APRIL 2005 Oh dear, still no further forward with the breast feeding! I am well aware that I must start to take a more decisive role in stopping, but Callum and I enjoy it so much. It's our special time together. The thought of stopping really does make my heart ache. True to form, Callum has cut another back tooth! That's all four through now. The next ones should be his canine teeth which should start coming through in a few months. Hopefully he will get a few months rest from sore gums. Although cutting teeth doesn't seem to trouble him too much, it still can't be pleasant. Well, we now have heating and hot water - the boiler is in. The kitchen fitter has also been - things are really starting to take shape... but there's a problem with the electrics. We have found a fault with the wiring. A friend of ours (Ian S) came to the rescue and sorted enough out to be able to allow the kitchen to go ahead, but there's still work to be done. Ian has kindly agreed to do the rest of the work for us (thanks ever so much Ian xxx), but he hasn't been too well, and was in the middle of his own kitchen revamp. I'm confident it will all get done eventually, but I am feeling a little overwhelmed by it all right now. It also means we still cannot move back home yet. We celebrated Shaun's birthday this month. Although we spent some of the day preparing for the kitchen fitter who was coming the next day, we still had time to celebrate... it was a double celebration this year as there was a 'family do' on the same day to celebrate my Auntie Jo & Uncle John's Silver Wedding Anniversary. Congratulations you guys! Callum is getting obsessed with airplanes. As soon as he hears one he's shouting "a that, a that, a that!!" and signing 'airplane'. We have to rush outside so that he can then see it for himself. He also finds helicopters fascinating too. In fact, so much is his obsession; we ended up taking a trip to Leeds Bradford Airport so that he could watch the planes. He loved it! Talking of airplanes, I surprised Shaun this month with a day trip to Iceland. It's somewhere he has always wanted to go - he was gob smacked to say the least! The only thing is, I got so carried away about how excited Shaun was going to be, I never gave a thought to my feelings on the matter. I normally love flying, but this time it meant flying off to another country and leaving my darling son behind. Once the thought occurred to me I was devastated! It's a good job that I only booked it a few days in advance - otherwise I may have chickened out. However, I went and I coped. We had a fantastic day - just what the doctor ordered! Some time being 'us' again. What with all the work going on at home and moving out whilst still trying to continue working, parenting and DIY-ing, everything was getting a bit much. Also, an added bonus... the geothermal waters of the Blue Lagoon seem to have cured my psoriasis! I can wear short sleeved tops again!! During pregnancy I went from only having a small patch of psoriasis on my scalp, to having it on my whole head and various parts of my body too. In particular, my right arm and my knee's were worst affected - but not anymore, it’s gone! I still have quite a bit on my scalp, but obviously my head wasn't in the water that much. I'm gonna get some of their scalp products though. The one's I bought for my skin work well at maintaining the good effects that the dip in the lagoon had. If you want to see where we went, visit www.bluelagoon.com. The best thing about the trip though was that I now had a little boy who I could buy pressies for! It had to be a couple of airplanes! Two days after booking the trip, and only three days before we were due to go, guess what... Callum got tonsillitis again. Poor kid. Me and my Mum were up all night trying to get his temperature down. My Mum sent me to bed at about 4am so that I could try to get some sleep whilst she looked after Callum - but I found it hard to settle. Typical that Shaun was working away that week. He hated being away whilst his boy was poorly. We were going to cancel our trip to Iceland, but by Friday the antibiotics were starting to work so after talking with My Mum and Dad we agreed to still go - provided they rung us just before we got on the plane if he was looking too ill. As usual, Callum bounced back ok, getting a little better each day. By the next week he was fine. Well, back to it. 'Til next time. Amanda
