APRIL 2008

Callum and I spent several nights at the Caravan this month.  During one visit Callum surprised me by using a magnetic sketch pad to write me his first every unprompted note "I love you".  I was so touched!

Callum also has another love in his life now, he has found the delights of crazy golf.  He can't get enough of it.  I reckon it's going to have to become a regular feature of our trips to the coast from now on.

We had a lovely break away in Blackpool this month too.  We went to the Haven Marton Mere holiday park.  We booked a three bedroom caravan, and took my Mum & Dad along with us.  We had a fantastic time. Callum loved going swimming and joining in the dancing and games on an evening.  He loved having bunk beds too... despite being over cautious, I did reluctantly agree to him sleeping in the top bunk, provided one of us adults was in the bottom bunk.  He was so proud of being considered big enough to go up there.  In reality though, despite him being really happy when we went to bed, he was very unsettled once he went to sleep and he was waking up very distressed and upset and he kept having to get into bed with me.  We can't work out what it is that he is dreaming of that is frightening him so much.

When we asked Callum what his favourite part of our mini-break in Blackpool was, he replied "showing Daddy the Trams".  I'm was glad, because the whole idea of the trip came from Callum wanting to show Daddy the trams we had seems when me and Callum had gone to Blackpool for the day on the train last year.

All along we had said that we would take Callum up Blackpool Tower.  It had never been an issue.  I thought I was fine with the idea.  How wrong I was!!!  Nothing could have prepared me for how I felt when we were going up in the lift.  Seeing Callum stood at the side of the glass windows in the lift affected me in ways I did not know were possible.  I lower stomach screwed up and clenched as though I were having contractions, I felt sick and panicky.  I would have gladly beaten everyone in that lift to a pulp just to get out.  Shaun tried talking to me to get me to look at the view, little did he know the feelings I was trying to keep inside.  I just growled at him and told him to shut up until we got off.  Talk about protective maternal instinct!!  The muscles in my stomach and groin ached for days afterwards because they had tensed so much!!

We celebrated two birthdays this month Daddy's & Grandma's!!

Callum has a wonderful day Auntie Dawny's when we went over after Nursery one time.  He loves Auntie Dawny's cats, but he also had an added bonus because she was looking after a friend's hamster, Murphy.  Callum loves Murphy very much!  Also, another friend called round and brought his dog Yorkie.  Callum was in him element playing with all the animals.  He gets that from me I think!

Callum fell ill this month with some sort of strange virus.  He had a high temperature and flu-like symptoms and some very strange pink patches on his face and neck.  We were worried that it was going to be Scarlet Fever as we had heard that it was doing the rounds in some schools.  We had him to the Drs and they just said it was a virus.  It took a week or more for him to get over it.

When Callum was feeling better we took him to Creepy Crawlies. He always enjoys a trip over there.

Callum went on his first ever proper school trip this month.  The Nursery took all the kids to The Deep in Hull.  I was so anxious about him being away from home and not in the care of us or his Grandparents.  We stayed to wave him off on his journey, his little head looked so tiny against the big coach window!  He had a great time and didn't seem to have missed us!!

My cousin, Becky had her little girl (Evie) Christened this month.  I was so glad we could make it, she's lovely.  As usual, Callum got just as broody as me!

After the Christening we headed off to Sheffield as we had tickets to see the Dancing on Ice live show.  Shaun had taken me last year and we thoroughly enjoyed it.  Callum really got into the TV show this year and so we decided to go again and take him along this time.  He really did enjoy the spectacle of it all.

That's it for this busy month,

Take care,

Amanda xXx
