JANUARY 2007

Well, I can’t believe that it has taken so long to publish the diaries for the first months of 2007… life has been so hectic and we just don’t know where the time is going!

Firstly, let me fill you in on something that happened in December which I had forgotten to mention in the diary for last month:

It was between Christmas and the New Year.  I was upstairs bathing Callum, and Shaun was downstairs being a ‘Domestic God’ vacuuming the front room.  I got Callum out of the bath and was knelt on the floor drying him off with the towel.  As I tried to get up, I banged my head on the sink.  I let out a pathetic sounding cry for help which Shaun wouldn’t have heard over the top of the vacuum cleaner.  Callum, without being prompted went to the top of the stairs and shouted for his Daddy saying that Mummy had hurt herself.  As I was struggling to remain conscious, Callum came in to tell me that his Daddy couldn’t hear him.  Fortunately I had not closed the safety gate at the top of the stairs, so I could ask Callum to walk downstairs very carefully and get his Daddy.  So, he did.  I could hear Callum struggling to be heard as Shaun was still vacuuming and had his back to the door.  Callum went up to him and patted his leg to get his attention and told him I was hurt.  Shaun then came to the rescue.  So, Callum was my little hero… he shouted his Daddy without being prompted, and then went down when I asked him.  Considering that he was (at that point) still scared of the vacuum cleaner, I think he was very brave!

Just a few days into the month, we went to a birthday party… I can’t believe that Bradleigh is 1 already!  We went around for a little tea party, Bradleigh’s baby cousin, Libby, was there too.  It was a nice afternoon seeing the kids all playing together.

Another celebration this month was my Mum & Dad’s 40th Wedding Anniversary… well done guys!  In fact, we will be celebrating further important milestones over the next few months, with big birthdays coming up for friends and family.

Callum got a Gingerbread Man baking kit at Christmas, and the three of us had loads of fun baking and decorating them.  We all had a go, and decided who each one looked like.,  I won’t offend anyone by putting names to individual specimens, but you can have a look at some of them in the Photo Gallery.

After Christmas and the New Year I had quite a surprise when I took Callum back to pre-school (Bright Sparks)… he had suddenly gone all clingy.  I was very surprised because he had been going there for over a year without any problems, but now he was very tearful and had to literally be torn away from me each morning.  It was very distressing.  It think the change of routine following Christmas along with Shaun’s hours changing at work that rocked Callum’s world a little as the ‘norm’ had changed.

It was around this time that I got a letter from the Nursery School saying that he will start on the 23rd April.  I know I leave him 4 days a week now, either at Bright Sparks or at my Mum & Dad’s, but I really don’t want to lose our Fridays… this is the one day each week where we have some really ‘Mummy and Callum’ time, after Shaun goes to work Callum comes into our bed and we have a really big cuddle and have a really lazy start to the day.  Oh well, can’t last forever I suppose.  The letter says that Callum and us can attend the Nursery for a visit in February.

Towards the end of the month, my Mum and Dad were having their central heating system changed, so I took a week off work so that they would not have to worry about having Callum during the chaos, especially as it was half term at school, so Callum would need looking after all day every day.  I wasn’t sure that this was going to help with the problems I was having leaving Callum at Bright Sparks as it was changing the routine again.  Oh well, I let you know how it goes in my next diary.

Well, ‘til next time.

See ya,

Amanda & Co xXx
