JUNE 2006

Well, firstly, the potty training…. It has gone really well, we are so proud of Callum right now.  It quite literally just took a couple of days, and now he is dry, not just during the day, but at night too!  We thought it would be some time before we worked on night-time dryness, but it just happened naturally when we potty trained him.  So much for us thinking he may not have been ready to move on from nappies!

Callum was off it for a few days, but we soon realised why.  He was cutting one of his last teeth and it was giving him some real trouble.  In the main, Callum has not really been bothered by his teething too much, but this time it really knocked him for six.  When he finally let us look in his mouth, we could see that his bottom-right molar was almost through… but we also saw that the top right one was already through, we assume this either didn’t give him any trouble, or it came though last month when he was off it anyway with his throat infection.  Just two more molars to go now (both on the left).

Callum started with a troublesome cough again, but this time it was down to hayfever, we had worried at first that it may have linked back to all the other problems he has had for months with his coughing/breathing.  Some Piriton syrup usually sorts him out quickly enough though.

We had a few days at the caravan this month – a bit of an early birthday getaway for me. For a few days it was my Mum & Dad, Callum and me, then Shaun joined us for the last couple of days.  We had a lovely time.  Callum enjoyed the beach (as usual), and had his first donkey ride.

He was watching the donkeys so much that we offered to let him have a go.  We did expect him to back down before he got there, but he didn’t.  He went straight up and chose the one he wanted to ride.  We lifted him up into the saddle and his face was a picture, his smile was beaming.  Still, though, we thought that once the donkey moved he would want to get off, afterall, he likes those coin-operated rides outside shops… until you put the money in and it moves!!!  Still, Callum had to prove us wrong.  He loved it.  He held on with his hands and knees, moving with the donkey as it made his way up the beach.  He seemed so relaxed, composed and confident; you would have assumed he had been on horses, and the like, many times before.

A busy weekend came next… the wedding of our friends Kelly & Matthew on the Saturday, and the Christening of baby Bradleigh on the Sunday.  Callum scrubbed up well and looked very smart both days.  Congratulations and best wishes to everyone involved.

Callum’s language skills are coming on great… he comes out with all sorts of statements and holds very lengthy conversations using words that are quite advanced for a child of his age.  My Mum is constantly astounded at what she terms as ‘his good command of the English Language’.

Well, things to do and stuff, so I had better sign off.

Catch ya next time,

Amanda xXx
