MAY 2007

After recovering from his croup, Callum had a few weeks before coming down with another cold!  Only this time we all got it.  It was particularly draining and we all got tummy upsets too.  In fact, we did very little during May because we all fell so shocking.  By the end of the month Me and Shaun were feeling quite a bit better, but Callum’s cough and general health was a cause for concern.  Although he seemed to be getting better some days, others he seemed to dip again.  I’m getting worried at how much of this year he has spent with a cough/cold.

Callum did have his first ‘school trip’ this month.  OK, so it was only a walk around to the local library, but I couldn’t help parking up somewhere discreet to watch him walking down with all his school friends.  They looked so cute walking along holding hands with the teachers/helpers etc.  Callum came home full of ‘Mrs Wiggins this’ and ‘Mrs Wiggins that’.  We came to the conclusion that Mrs Wiggins must have been one of the helpers that day… after speaking to the school though it turned out that she was the librarian.  Callum has taken quite a shine to her.

It was Libby’s Christening on the 20th, we were disappointed that Shaun couldn’t go, but his new job and new shifts meant that he had to give it a miss.  Still, Callum and I went, along with a friend of ours, Jamie.  Libby was so well behaved and looked gorgeous.  Callum loved playing with all the kids outside.  He gave me the fright of his life though when he went missing!  He had gone back inside the pub looking for me, so everyone outside thought he was ok and left him to it… but the door to the other room was open and he had sneaked in.  The panic and fear that ran through me when it came to light that he wasn’t where I thought he was is indescribable.  I soon found him pressing the buttons on the games machines in the bar.  I didn’t know what to do first, hug him, or shout at him!  But he hadn’t deliberately gone missing bless him, so I couldn’t be too harsh.

At the end of the month, Callum went away to the caravan to spend the Whitsuntide holidays with my Mum & Dad… I can’t last 11 days without him, so I will go though to see him next weekend while Shaun is at work.  In fact, I struggled with the thought of him going away this time as I was at work when my folks collected him from Shaun.  In the end I asked them to bring him by work so that I could give him a kiss before he went.  I ended up going for lunch with them, but it wasn’t the lovey-dovey goodbye that it was supposed to be.  Callum was struggling eating his dinner because of his cough, and ended up being sick all over me and the table!  Although I knew it was jus the cough that had made him sick and that he didn’t have a tummy upset, I still found it even harder to let him go.

Oh well, I’ll see him again soon.

‘til next time.
