NOVEMBER 2005

Oh my word… our boy is two!  We had a party at Brewsters in Knottingley.  Although the play area for the toddlers is not very big, it suited us as there were a lot of older kids going.  In fact, some of them were too big top go in the play area at all (according to the rules)… but one of the assistants was very understanding and seeing as there were very few other kids in the play area apart from our party, he allowed them in to erm.. ‘supervise’ the younger kids!  To be honest, in the end, everyone was playing in the main play area!

The kids all seemed to enjoy the day, so too did the adults!  We were so pleased that my Gran could make it, we thought the noise and chaos may have proved too much, but no… she loved seeing Callum playing with his friends.  Callum still tells us (in his own unique way) about ‘bear’ at his party and how he brought him a cake with candles to blow out!  These tales are usually followed by a request for “more”.  He also forever wants to see the photo’s.  Reassurance enough that Callum thought we made the right choice of venue.  Check out the 'Celebrations' page in the Photo Gallery.

Once more, Callum was spoilt with gifts – thanks again to everyone.  I think his favourite gift was the pink pushchair that Mick and Iris (Lucy’s Grandparents) bought.  Callum loves playing with Lucy’s pushchair at her grandma and Grandad’s, and it often ends in dispute.  So, Iris decided to get Callum his own pink pushchair.

We had thought that this would ease the disputes, but when Callum took his pushchair around, they still ended up having disputes as they told one another off for touching the wrong pushchair… at times they were deliberately taunting each other…. So, we gave up!

On the 7th, Callum started pre-school.  He only goes 2 mornings a week, but we just wanted him to be used to mixing with other young children from an early age.  As the day drew closer I really started to wonder whether I had made the right decision or whether I was a ‘bad Mum’ for sending him so early.

When we arrived at school on the first morning, the doors were not yet open, but there were some trikes and toys out in the enclosed playground for them to be playing with.  Callum happily started playing, obviously relaxed following his original visit and the pre-start visit the earlier week.  He kept on pulling at the locked doors shouting “in… in….. IN”!  At this stage I realised I had made the right decision to take him!  We have no problem leaving him at pre-school, he has settled right in.

November is traditionally a very busy month for us.  Not only does Callum celebrate his birthday, but two friends of ours also have their birthdays this month… Joe and Dawn.  We also have bonfire night, and an extra for this year was the engagement of our friends Craig and Kimberley (Congratulations guys!).  So, Callum as once again has been pretty much a party animal!

Callum has been quite poorly lately, he has had a very heavy cold which keeps coming and going.  He also has had a very nasty stomach bug… which he kindly shared with me!  I can’t believe he has had to have time off school through sickness already!

Those bottom canines definitely look like they will put in an appearance very soon, but not this month.  Callum’s gums really are quite swollen, generally, Callum does not suffer badly (not for any great length of time anyway) when he is teething, but these are proving to be a little more uncomfortable for him.  Poor kid, he is constantly dribbling and chewing… we even considered buying him a dog chew toy at one point!

Well, next step Christmas!  See ya next month.
