SEPTEMBER 2006
So, as September started we were on the last day of our holiday in Wales, we were travelling home the next day. We took Callum to a Honey Farm, just 20 mins or so drive from the cottages. It was only a small place, but very interesting. We got to see all sorts of live bee hives and watched the bees working. Callum got dressed up as a bee keeper... check out the photo galleries. The scenery around the Honey Farm was lovely, there was a small stream outside with a tiny duck pond. There were also a few picnic tables. Next time we go to Wales we reckon we may call there one day just to have a picnic. I didn't buy any honey, but they do also make traditional 'mead'... the oldest form of alcohol. It's kind of a honey wine sort of drink, and comes in loads of flavours.. all of which can be sampled for free (Hic!!!). I bought to small flasks, one in apple and one in blackcurrant. We've not had them yet though. The journey home went ok, no repeat of last years' trauma when Callum was really ill all the way home. After being in Bridlington with his grandparents, uncle and cousin for a few days, and then being in Wales with everyone for 8 days, Callum kind of got used to having everyone around and really missed them all when we got home. It took him a while to settle back into the old routine. He wasn't unruly or anything, he just kept asking for everyone and saying how he was missing them all. He just couldn't understand why he didn't see everyone everyday. When the new term started at Callum's pre-school Callum was in for a surprise. Seeing as he enjoys it so much and gets so much out of it, we decided to increase his hours. He now goes for three morning sessions not just two. He really had missed the place. Increasing to three days will also help towards the transition to 5 days when he starts part-time nursery... this should be around April next year, although it could be anytime after Christmas as they do start some kids a term early. I'm not hopeful of Callum starting early as the list for April is huge, and priority for early takers will be given to the children who live locally. I don't mind, I would prefer him to start in the April anyway. It was a welcome bonus for Callum when I decided to take him to join Uncle Andy, Luke and his Grandparents at the caravan for a weekend while Shaun was left at home doing some DIY. Callum, my Dad and me went through at lunchtime on the Friday, and my Mum, Andy and Luke followed on later that evening. Once again, Luke got most of the attention from Callum... although he does rather dote on his Uncle Andy too. However, you should see how Uncle Andy and Luke put little Callum to work in the park... check out the photo gallery!!! As predicted, Callum's final Molar came through - so he has all his teeth now. I can't believe that Callum will be three soon (less than a month at the time of writing this). We've decided to just have a small family celebration this year. We are combining it with the annual fireworks evening at my Mum & Dad's... the reason being that we have another party that weekend, and if we had kept Callum's birthday and the fireworks separate then it would have meant being out partying three days in a row - we thought just the two nights would be better. Well, to say we never seem to get a spare minute lately, I cannot think of anything more to say this month, so I'll sign off for now and catch up with you next time. Take care, Amanda xXx
